Hosh District
Project Title
Hosh District
Alternate Titles
Hosh Complex
Description
The Hosh District is an area of ancient buildings located at the edge of the Jewish Quarter. Restoring the deteriorated buildings, which included parts of stone facades, rubble-filled domes, and vaulted construction, entailed careful exterior reinforcement, interior waterproofing, and new infill construction. A total of 17 apartments of various sizes were created, linked by interconnected courtyards, staircases, and passages. In recognition of its impact on the city, the project was awarded the Rechter Prize for Architecture in 1982.
