Description
The site of the museum called for a building that would form a gateway to downtown Stuttgart and mark the beginning of the city's cultural and civic core. The permanent galleries formed the "urban" spine of the building, organized into a series of "houses" and a tower. The temporary galleries were served by a giant crane and could be moved and transferred to off-site storage when not in use.
