Mamilla Center: Commercial Center and Jaffa Gate Parking

Jaffa Gate, one of eight historic gates of Jerusalem’s Old City, has long occupied a pivotal commercial location. To address ongoing vehicular and pedestrian congestion, the road around the gate was moved further west and parking was relocated below ground to create a pedestrian zone, which connects the central business district with the Old City. The landscaped, folded plane acts as a forecourt to the commercial shopping district, forming the northern banks to the traditional Hinnom Valley and new commercial center.
