The first great
blue heron flies regally by, skimming the water of the port. My favourite
tugboat, the "Cathy McAlister" brings in first one cargo ship, and
then another, and soon the port is alive with the sounds of clanging metal, and
the slow, structured dance of the loading and unloading of heavy crates. Shad
flies attack for a few days in May and the squirrels begin to look for edibles.
Every kind of dog, accompanied by their owners, emerges from Habitat, and soon
they are chasing after spring bunnies towards the park.
