Client: F.W. Thompson
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: In 1909, F. W. Thompson, Vice-president and Managing Director of Ogilvy Flour Mills, bought a big extension of land at Saint-Andrews and hired the Maxwell brothers to design his summer residence named Meadow Lodge. They designed a sizable house around an already existing one. The basic rectangular plan is interrupted symmetrically by four projections containing the living room, the dining room, the master bedroom and the kitchen wing. One of the distinctive features of this house are the long roofs with their sloping eaves and Palladian windows. The drawings for the furniture indicate that the Maxwell office was responsible for furnishing and decorating the entire house.
