Mrs. Alexander Cameron House(1909-10)
Huntington, QC, Canada
Residential, Country house [basement, 2 floors, attic, 4 bedrooms]; wood; composite

Client: Mrs. Alexander Cameron
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: Possibly for the same clients as a house on Clarke Avenue, Westmount (311), with which it shares a compact, almost cubic silhouette, hipped roof with balustrade and a bay-window. The Cameron house, however, is clapboard and adorned with delightful Palladian details. The entrance porch treatment, with its pairs of Tuscan columns superimposed over a giant order of pilasters that frame a Palladian window (the stair landing) and support a pediment, is elegant and intriguing. The dining room has chamfered corners taking advantage of the bay window projection, a Maxwell signature detail in many of their urban houses. There are four bedrooms on the first floor; the staircase extends to the attic (and the roof through a hatch) but was left unfinished.

Holdings: Country house (basement, 2 floors, attic, 4 bedrooms); wood; composite
10 Drawings: 10 ink on linen
5 Working drawings: floor plans, attic floor plan, elevations, section
5 Detail drawings: elevation, section, stairs, mantelpiece, fittings, dado
