Residential, Urban house [alteration: front verandah]

Client: R. Boyd
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: A proposal to add a verandah and balcony to two existing semi-detached houses owned by the client. A first flight of eight steps leads to a landing; from it, two flights of eight wood steps curve 90 degrees to the new verandah, which was to be 8’-9'' wide and nestled between the existing bay windows. Eight new columns support the new balcony above, on the same plan than verandah save the extension above the bay window for the house on the right. Since drawings do not bear any contractor’s signature and location, date and client information are incomplete, it is assumed this was a proposal only. A perspective drawing shows the addition in relation to the existing façade.

Holdings: Urban house (alteration: front verandah)
5 Drawings: 1 ink on linen; 1 ink on paper; 3 blueprints
1 Development drawing: perspective
4 Working drawings: plans, elevations
