Client: Knox Presbyterian Church
Architect: E. Maxwell

Description: The Knox Presbyterian Church was located at Dorchester and Metcalfe Streets. It was designed by Edward Maxwell in the French Cathedral Style with a large rose, stained glass window above the triple-arched entrance. The octagonal roof covered an auditorium of the same shape, and the apse was capped with a Gothic turret surrounded by a balustrade. The building was sold to the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada on June 13, 1911. The Sun Life Office Building, erected on the north-east corner of Dorchester and Metcalfe Streets, was gradually expanded between 1923 and 1925 as far as Mansfield Street, and brought about the demolition of the Knox Presbyterian Church.
