Transportation, Office building [basement, 2 floors, attic]; brick; composite

Client: Grand Trunk Railway
Architect: E. Maxwell

Description: The Maxwell's building for the Grand Trunk Railway Company in Pointe-Saint-Charles reflects the Edwardian Neo-Baroque Classicism. The two-storey building maintains an axial plan containing an office for Mr. Morse on the ground floor and clerk office spaces on the first floor. The main entrance façade is treated as a three-bay pavilion with four columns in the Ionic style, linking visually the ground and first floors. A gabled feature tops the two bays on either side of central arched entrance opening. The large hipped roof, which covers the building, contains a clear-storey opening at the centre.
