Description: Charles Meredith was born in London, Ontario. He married R.B. Angus’ daughter, Elspeth Hudson Angus, living at 1130 West Pine Avenue (518) in a house designed by E. and W.S. Maxwell. Charles Meredith worked some 15 years for the Merchant’s Bank of Canada and then founded his own brokerage firm, the C. Meredith and Co. It had offices on Saint-François-Xavier Street. Three private offices faced the street while a general office was at the rear, open to a public space with a service counter. Alterations consisted in minor washroom upgrades in the basement, and partitioning, interior decoration and wall panelling for the main floor offices.
