[242] Sherbrooke Street [West], Montreal, QC, Canada
Residential, Apartment

Client: A.E. Brunet
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: Mr. Brunet’s apartment at the Carlton (or the Carleton, as both names appear on the drawings) was modified to enlarge his bedroom and to add a nurse’s room. Many changes were made to the decoration: mouldings, built-in furniture, chimney mantels, cupboards and closets. It is unclear if the client was banker Alfred Brunet, born in 1844, who owned a property in Baie d’Urfé (Barn modifications, 1911, E. & W.S. Architects) and whose city address was listed as 503 Sherbrooke Street West. There was also Arthur Eugène Brunet, a broker and financial agent who had is own brokerage firm from 1896. The Carleton Apartments no longer exist.
