J.T. Bethune House(12/1913)
Longue Pointe, QC, Canada
Residential, Country house [basement, 2 floors, attic]; brick; wall bearing

Client: J.T. Bethune
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: Not much is known for this project; working drawings do not bear contractors’ signatures and the location is imprecise; Longue Pointe is a Montreal east end neighbourhood facing Saint-Lawrence River near present L.H. Lafontaine bridge. A beautifully planned residence with brick and half-timbering facades (giving it a somewhat Tudor flavour) and a covered porch at the front, with living/den and dining room on either side of the vestibule that leads to the main stair. First floor has three bedrooms, the main chamber with a dressing room, bathroom and sleeping porch ensuite. The attic comprises a fourth bedroom with bathroom. Notes indicate ''J.T. Bethune, 764 Sherbrooke Street'', either the client’s business or permanent home address, not that of this house.
