Description: The Walter Chipman and Maude Angus house, commissioned by Maude’s father R.B. Angus (268), is a sober and smaller version of the J.T. Davis house (368), with which it shares a slightly asymmetrical façade and its position perpendicular to Drummond Street, the brick exterior and the plan organization. As in the Davis House, the north of the ground floor open unto a grand hall, leading to the drawing room to the east and the dining and billiard rooms to the west. Dr. Walter William Chipman, a physician trained at Acadia University, Nova Scotia and Edinburgh, Scotland (1900) married R. B. Angus’ daughter Maude in 1889. He practiced medicine in Montreal after 1907, first at the Royal Victoria Hospital, then in private practice.
