George Darling House, Alterations(-)
Hudson Heights, QC, Canada
Residential, Cottage [addition: basement; ground: kitchen, dining room, servant's room; attic]

Client: George Darling
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: The George Darling House in Hudson Heights originally comprised a central living room opened on both the roadside and the riverside, with two smaller rooms on either side. The Maxwells designed an addition to the house, a new dining room with a fireplace, the kitchen and the pantry, and a servant’s room. Under the roof, an ample new bedroom was placed next to the existing bathroom. The extension broke the original symmetry of the house but the materials and the roof slopes blended well with the existing ones.
