Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: In 1904, James Maher a real state operator, born in Huntley, Ontario in 1873 was the owner of approximately 300 acres of land in Senneville West End of the island of Montreal. He engaged the Maxwell brothers to design his urban house at Westmount. The project consisted of two two-storey semi-detached houses in which the result of the second unit is a reflected plan of the other. The design for each house was the typical layout of a lateral entrance leading to a central hall, which opens onto library, drawing room, dining room, and kitchen. The elevations show a brick façade composed by the projecting two-storey high bay window of the drawing room. A triangular parapet that includes stone flush detail crowned the bay window. A two-storey high porch, which in the first floor in capped by the descending projection of the slate roof, marks the access to each house.
