Residential, Country house [detached, basement, 2 floors, attic]; stone; wall bearing

Client: F.W. Mosley
Architect: E. Maxwell

Description: The two storey rectangular country house built by Edward Maxwell for Mr. Mosley adopted the Georgian Revival style. However, the available drawings do not reveal the date and year during which the house was built. The main feature of the house was a large hipped roof with front-to-back ridge and a centered dormer. The entrance porch at the corner, treated with decorative elements, became a formal sitting space at the first-floor level. The plan was simple with a full width central hall opening onto the sitting room at the front, and dining and drawing room at the rear. The upper floor accommodated a bedroom, guestroom and the sewing room. In later years, Edward also worked on the additions and alterations for the house which included the extension of the living room, hall, vestibule, dressing room, and closet on the upper floor.
