Dr. Milton L. Hersey House, Addition and Alterations(3/1910-1/1911)
13 Rosemount Avenue, Westmount, QC, Canada
Residential, Urban house [detached]

Client: Dr. Milton L. Hersey
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: The drawings in the archive show that the Maxwell brothers did many interior alterations to the Dr. Hersey House in Westmount. The plain ceiling interiors were elegantly given a new image by introducing elaborate carvings. Adding fluted columns on either side emphasized the bay window opening in the drawing room. All the entrance openings within the house were topped with a decorative frieze. The Maxwell brothers also designed furniture for the dining room. The new pendants produced for the seats in the hall and wood paneled fireplaces are some of the new features of this residence.
