A.H. Grier House, Proposal(4/1920)
Senneville, QC, Canada
Residential, Country house

Client: A.H. Grier
Architect: E. & W.S. Maxwell

Description: The Maxwell brothers proposed a three-storey Georgian country house for Mr. A.H. Grier at Senneville. A large hipped roof from which smaller roofs projected out to create a perfect skyline capped the house. The large centered pediment supported by the full height Corinthian columns enhanced the front façade facing the lake. A balcony at the first floor level sheltered the entrance doorway, which occupied the space between the columns. The rear façade, facing the woods featured a hipped dormer, which lit the attic floor. The ground floor arched windows were differentiated from the rectangular windows of the first floor.
