Description: In 1908, Robert Gill asked the Maxwell brothers to do alterations and additions to his country house at Saint-Andrews in New Brunswick. The results are new projections at the south façade containing servants’ hall on the ground floor and three servants’ rooms on the first floor. A portico supported by Ionic columns surmounted by Palladian windows enhances the principal façade. On the first floor, Mr. Gills’ bedroom with French windows open onto a balcony sheltered by a pediment. Other works includes the enclosure of a semi-decagon porch with casement windows to create an extended living space. New hardwood floors and Beaverboard panelled ceilings are also important features of the alterations. The building underwent frequent changes and it still exists.
