John Galt House(4/1905-6/1912) Rosslyn Road, Winnipeg, MB, Canada Residential, Urban house (detached, basement, 2 floors, attic, 10 bedrooms); brick; wall bearing Client: John Galt Description: The Maxwell brothers were commissioned by John Galt to design the plans for his new residence at Rosslyn Road in Winnipeg. The plan of the two-storey building reflected Norman Shaw's English villas by maintaining an axial plan through the entrance doorway, which terminated with a large music room. The central axis provided access to the library and the drawing room on one side, and the dining room and kitchen on the other. The front elevation featured a central entrance doorway, flanked by two Ionic columns supporting the segmental arch. Two dormer bays run along the height of the building on either sides of central doorway and are capped by a large hipped roof. The house was demolished in the 1940s.
