DESCRIPTION

Architectural drawings, business correspondence, specifications, etc, relating to three projects from the 1960s, comprise the CAC's holdings of materials relating to the architectural practice of Francis J. Nobbs (b. 1912). These materials have not been accessioned or described.

Nobbs was born in Montreal in 1912, the son of the prominent architect, Percy Erskine Nobbs (1875-1964). After receiving a B.Arch. from McGill University in 1936, Nobbs worked for a number of years at the architectural firm of Harold Lea Fetherstonhaugh (1887-1971) and J. Cecil McDougall (1886-1959). Later he worked for two years at his father's firm of Nobbs and Hyde, prior to his serving in the Second World War. In 1945 Nobbs became a partner in his fa ther's practice, one year after the death of Percy Nobbs' long-time partner George Taylor Hyde (1879-1944). In 1960 Francis Nobbs set up his own practice. He served as the president of the Province of Quebec Association of Architects in 1963 and 1965.

Architectural Drawings, professional correspondence, specifications, etc., ca. 1960s, 13 cm, 17 file folders. Unaccessioned materials relating to three projects: St. Helen's School in Dunham, PQ, Camp Amy Molson, and Knox Crescent and Kensington Presbyterian Church on Godfrey Avenue in Montreal.
