Great buttresses stabalize the wall and descend towards the sidewalk. The building is entered as is a nautilus shell, in the gap that is created by the wrapping wall. The criticism during the phase 1 was that it was not accessible enough in its image: "It would be difficult to know where the entrance is," and that "It represented the concept of a singular entrance, perhaps inappropriate to the principle of an openly accessible institution."
