REMEMBRANCE

Tragedies beyond comprehension can be grasped through discussion, contemplation and remembrance. Memorials such as those at Yad Vashem offer a cathartic journey into the past. Each of the three examples included here commemorates the same event but have been interpreted formally in three distinct ways. Unlike the majority of Safdie’s commissions, the projects that are commemorative in nature have been situated, up to the present, exclusively in Israel.
