Schematic model of the assembly of Habitat'67 |
Each house has at least one outdoor terrace, which is
formed by the roof of the dwelling below.
The modular boxes (measuring 11.7m x 5.3m x 3m or 17'6" x 38'6" x 10'6")
are assembled in a clustered geometry, with eight boxes piled on top
of one another. Vertical circulation in the complex is conducted
through three elevator cores which lead to horizontal pedestrian
streets located on four floors of the complex. Entrances to
dwelling units open directly from these streets, each person
having an identifiable entrance of their own, and the streets
were thus intended to be a meeting place and point of contact
in the complex.
