Habitat Rochester
Client: FIGHT, City of Rochester, and the New York Urban Development Corporation

Habitat Rochester was a feasibility study for a 1,200-unit high density residential community for low to moderate income families. The primary design challenges were to solve the problem of limited spatial area requirements prescribed by the Federal Housing Authority and Urban Development Corporation, yet still produce an adequate and pleasant living environment. Garden terraces, accessible through large sliding glass openings, helped give a sense of spaciousness by expanding the interior outwards. Two-story living spaces provided privacy and added volume within each dwelling and also created a similar sense of roominess.
