DESCRIPTION Walter Scott Painter (b. 1877) studied architecture in New York and moved to Montreal in 1901. During his career he practised architecture in Canada and the United States. In 1906 Painter was appointed architect of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. Among the buildings that he designed, the Majestic Theatre in Toronto, the Russell Theatre in Ottawa, the Citadelle wing of the Château Frontenac in Quebec City and the Century Club in Detroit, are noteworthy. Bruce Andersen Architectural Drawings, 1910-1, 21 drawings. The drawings document, through plans and elevations, Painter's addition to Windsor Station in Montreal. Also included are copies of plans for the original building constructed between 1880 and 1890. |
